Week 9

Our guest lecturer on Monday was Ilpo Kärkkäinen who is one of the Finlands successfulliest music producers and DJs. He came to talk to us about blogging and some digital marketing tools. His topic "The 4 power of blogging" contains four important aspects:

First "Blogging is a powerfull learning tool" what means that you really have to think what you are writing and why, nobody wants to embarrassed themselves on public. Of course all what you have written e.g. what you have learned will keep in your mind much longer. Ilpo also said one interesting thing about what people have said to him many times during his blogging is that "It is so great that you are sharing your information free" but they didn't realize that although all the information is free Ilpo didn't lost his precious time, vice versa, he get a tool to learn.

Second "Blogging can become a solid business" it can take time and patience. There is three important thing to keep on your mind: Advertising, affiliate marketing (best way to make money on blogging) and product selling.

Third "Blogging connect you to people and opportunities". You don't have to be perfect writer or blogger... Just be yourself and try offer something valuable to your readers. Write what you are interested in. It really can bring you things that you haven't ever think about. He also mentioned that videos is the best way to connect to people, which is true.

Fourth "Blogging helps in creating clarity and achieving goals in life" it can help you to achieve your goals. What is your passion? What do you want to write about it? What is your perspective? You really have to do work for your topic but if you do it you can become an expert.

He also showed us some interesting tools (Google Trends, Google Analytics..) how you can follow e.g. how many have checked your blog, where they are coming from, amount of visitors in your blog and you can even find what is a trend right now. And of course everything can be seeing on real time. I really didn't know how easy is to find information about the trafic on your website or blog...

On Thursday we had our first exam concerning about this course and what we have learned, obviously. It was really nive because it was online exam. You could do it home with your computer. So.. just hoping it went well.
